Nightly ''pseudo-artsy'' Decem

January 12, 2010 by plastic_magician

Hello again dear snowskaters, so here's the deal: I am currently overloaded by footage (I have a total of 93gig this season so far and I still have lots of capture to do still) and since the filming standards are constantly rising and tripod isn't "cool" anymore these days, I will freely distribute or share most of my "not good enough" or "played out" footy on my YouTube channel and here on the blogs of course.

This means you can expect me to post at least an edit a week and that's where I'd like to ask you guys for your support, with it being just commenting on the posts or rating the vids on YouTube and such, and hopefully if I can keep getting some good throwaway footage from other guys of the team as well throughout the season, heck I could feature most of the Ambition riders in what I want to be legit edits that will keep the community stoked until the next official Ambition full length pops (not too late please!! get it guys?)

With this in mind, I also need to mention that I've been filming LOTS of behind-the-scenes footy and party footy and more during the team trip and even in the aftermaths (I filmed and rode from 11pm to 7am in a epic nightly session that I rigorously documented 2 days ago), so my plan is to deliver a full lenght documentary, sort of like what Logan did with Jux, but a tad bit more ghetto and rugged and I'll try to include some humorous content as well.

Furthermore, I will do my best to keep documenting different riders in different cities (Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec city, Montreal and more) in order to achieve what I would like to be a full-length documentary that really shows what goes behind all those cumulated 3 second clips you see in the videos and on your computer and TV screen (oh and believe me if you thought riding with the Ambition crew is always fun and games well think twice because you'll understand that there is a lot of efforts, organization, and filming required to make things work) I won't release any further details on that project for now, but rest assured that it'll become more and more concrete as the season goes, and to keep you entertained I will most definitely post lifestyle shots segments throughout the winter so you can have a glimpse at what the documentary will be like...

Now concerning this particular edit, I have to say it hurts a little to get rid of part of that footy so early in the season because I kinda wanted to keep some of those tricks for the final edit, but after a good reflexion it's not too bad because that ledge featured in the video is a perfect spot and those tricks were sort of a warm up before the techy stuff starts to happen. I am still pretty stoked on the way the look on camera (thanks my roommate Adam and Alex for some of the shots) even if this is almost not up to the filming standards this year. Another little detail I wanna point out: we had the chance to host a new worker at Ambition in late December and I am referring to a guy you might have heard off (Phil Smage... you know this guys right?), and believe me Phil is way underrated in the snowskate world right now and plus he is the sweetest guy ever (fun, gentle, always smiling, endurant, impressing, has nice teeth, doesn't have a terrible feet odour like Nick...) I would not exaggerate if I said Phil is a robot-like superhuman with a hearth of gold, and I would sure marry him except I'm not into robots and neither into dudes (this reminds me that my beautiful girlfriend Amanda will probably read this so I'd like to say hi and I love you babe) b so This is why it was sure a lot of fun riding with Phil and Alex alone at a few occasions because we had no pressure whatsoever and could just work on stuff, and that's pretty much what this edit is all about getting warmed up for the season...

Alright guys I have capture to do now and I need to get prepared for another day of riding with the epic crew so I'll leave it as is for now, but take her EZ and if you have any comments, questions, suggestions don't be shy to post them here or on the forums or on my YouTube page...

peace!!

Okay well this is about it but make sure to check out the next blog posting for part 2 and keep subscribing on my YouTube and checking out the Ambition site because that's where the heart and soul and rawness of snowskating is at...
