Golden Crown Best Trick

On March 30th, Ambition set up a snowskate park at Orford resort during the long awaited Golden Crown snowboarding contest. The park featured a kicker to box, ride-on flat box, ollie-on box and two kickers.

We arrived early in the morning to setup our tent up and get everything ready for the contest. We had the perfect day, there was no wind and it was a sunny +5 celcius outside. Snow was groomed to perfection and we were ready to show these snowboarders what boarding is all about.

Intruder? I say prototype. And just to keep the suspense going, this is not the actual graphic we will be using next year.

Charlo and Quimp started to session before everyone else showed up. Very good tricks were already going down and turning a lot of heads. COSD pulled off an ollie over the ride-on box on his second try, landed some rad "shove-it in shove-it out" combos on the box along with a few tailpress tricks. Quimp on his side landed a bunch of different tricks, including a crooked press on the kicker to box. The rest of the contestants arrived later in the morning.

Ambition team rider COSD threw down many tailpress trick combinations with consistency on his obstacle of choice: the kicker to box

As riders were getting warmed up for the best trick contest, we all knew that it would be a hard pick. Ambition team rider Rico Desjardins landed a fs flip on the kicker and was the first to pull a heelflip in on the kicker to box. Nick Stefani was also showing some mad steez, cleanly landing nosepresses all over the place.

Everything was looking so good, almost too good to be true. The unexpected happened, when were told that we had to pack our stuff up and leave. Even though Ambition was an invited partner of the Golden Crown event, the resort wouldn't allow snowskates to ride on the mountain. After trying to deal for an hour with the administration, we were forced to leave. We got kicked out by the same people who invited us in the first place.

Of course, we wouldn't just all go home and waste the rest of our day. We all headed down to Sherbrooke, Quebec, where we hit up a few street spots including a gap to bank, big drop and stair set.

Even though we got kicked out and had cancel the competition, we all had a fun time sessioning together under the sun in downtown Sherbrooke. Thanks to everyone who came and helped us out.
