Not at all, I just think that it's good to have a board that looks good and performs well. Would you eat something that looks and smells like shit but taste incredible, or something that does well in all three categories? Remember that a good quality board does not just perform great but it looks like effort was put into making it. The new ambition however looks very rushed and done half-assed.

Actually, my favorite food is calamari, it looks like shit but tastes amazing. yum

Did you guys try one of the new boards that were not finished by a base grinder at all (One of the boards where the bottom looks like a mirror.)?

And I am not just complaining about the base dude, I'm pissed off about the overall quality of the board. I recommended ambition to my friend because I thought it was the best quality of snowskates out there, but when my friend got his board I knew that I was wrong. The thing looks like it’s been made in 5 minutes; the sides are not sanded down right (they feel and look as rough as skateboard grip tape), there’s drips of glue all over the sides and some even on the base, and the base looks like it has been raped by asphalt and then raped again by a porcupine. Even if the board gives an "acceptable" performance, if that is the quality you get, it’s not worth your money.

maybe its a defect? But why do you come on these forums just to complain? But ambitions are definatly worth your money.

You guys are not using fucking logic. If you put a hundred grooves on a snowskate what happens? It becomes slow as shit. Why? Because the deepest part of the groove rests on the snow while the edges cave into the snow and act like brakes and slow the snowskate down. The bases are so roughly sanded that it does just that, it creates little mini grooves on the flat parts of the snowskate. Yes that does make it track like 1% better, but it slows it down more. Yes snowboard companies use this method of base grinding but they don't use sandpaper that fucking rough! Those snowskates look like they have been raped by the sidewalks, I'm starting to think you guys just found an asphalt hill and rode those boards down until they look like that and said you used a "base grinder”. The reason why base grinding works for snowboards is because they use finer sandpaper and they put WAX on their boards! The reason why the wax works is because it fills in those small mini groves and the mini grooves hold the wax well, so couldn't ambition just wax their bases??? WRONG! Their bases are made from a material that does not hold wax and even though they have millions of those scratches the material will not hold the wax and have no effect besides making the snowskate even slower. So Ambition, don't give me this shit that base grinding your snowskates makes them faster because you need a material that will hold wax.

Also you might say you do it so the die cut graphic does not stick out, well that does not mean you have to make the whole base look like it has been raped by a asphalt hill! Only base grind in that area, and use finer sandpaper damn it!
Before you all start thinking that I am wrong, really think about it and use your brains for once! Look at your snowskate (for those of you who have received anew one), what do you think about this "improvement".

im sorry, do you own a snowskate company? have you been testing snowskates for 8 years?
I can't even use my calculator anymore beceause everything=TRUE COLOUR!

yea ambition definitely doesnt care at all...... we only blessed snowskating with a video that otherwise wouldnt have been matched in quality for another 5 years or so. a video that the snowboard and skateboard community can actually watch without making fun of the sport. no effort went into that at all...
if you enjoy icons then buy one. if you enjoy ambitions buy one. simple as that.
i assure you mr blais works harder than anyone else in the industry to provide people with good skates and a strong company image.

Mmm...

First things first.

Base grinding serves multiple purposes, but nothing related to wax absorbtion. The reason snowboard companies base grind a board is to clean the bases from any epoxy and create a texture that will help the board glide. The friction of your base material on snow creates a thin film of water, which is what you are truly sliding on. A completely flat base can create some suction spots, which causes you to go slower. By base grinding a board, the tiny lines runing from nose to tail will ensure that the water flows through the base and doesn't stick.

As for wax, it's not supposed to fill in the texture. If you did, it would do more harm than good. What you want to do is fill up the miniature pores of the base with wax, and remove any excess. What does wax do? It melts snow, creating the water film quicker for a better glide.

We've tested many base finishes, and we chose the one with the best performance. It also looks great on the red, black and green bases. The blue base has a little more hairs showing for some reason, but would you rather have a slower snowskate?

it’s true that it does prevent suction I totally agree with you about that, but you don't have to make the base that rough in order to prevent suction and maybe once you finish the snowskate you could use a really fine sandpaper one the base grinded parts of the board so there is not so many hairs sticking up, that will make it look a little less ugly. But the big thing is the board looks very rushed and in terms of quality it is not at all what I was expecting.

Well I salute your honnesty and appreciate the feedback. We will look into improving the finishing process for the boards to come. Although I'm sure once you hit the snow you will be very satisfied.

You will hear from me again when the snow comes and I give my review on how it performs... but be assured that I will hold nothing back because my icon snowskate set the bar pretty high in terms of quality and performance.

And no, this is not whokilledmyhooker, how can you tell? I HAVE A BRAIN! I hate that kid...

Here's a picture for you. The blue shows more "white hair" as you can see on the picture, whereas the other colors show none. I don't see this being a problem though to be honnest. If your board doesn't look like this, then maybe you've gotten a defective snowskate?
