Regular & Goofy differences.

Postby realclassactx on Tue Dec 08, 2009 7:18 am

So today i did some uhh... practice outside. theres no snow on the ground, so it was stationary stuff to get back into the feel of the board or whatever, and for the first time i tried the basic stuff (ollie, 180, shuvit, kickflip) in a goofy stance rather than regular.

ive been riding regular my entire life on skateboards, though my first shot at trying a goofy/fakie kickflip, i owned it.

has anyone else just tried switching stances to find that they're better off that way?
i mean, i have crazy troubles being consistent with any flip tricks when i ride regular, but as soon as i switch to my other foot doing the work, it was like magic.

...why the hell didn't i try this years ago!!!

So you're saying you thought you were regular but you're really goofy?

if you skateboard a certain way, and its more comfortable, then thats your stance.

wait till you actually snowskate, its gonna be different.

and if you had a hard time flipping tricks, maybe its because you were moving, and it was a skateboard.

either way, i think you'd still be regular.

lots of people can control switch tricks without moving. It gets much harder when you learn how to ride and control a board opposite to what your already used to.

i meant goofy & fakie, like going that direction was so much easier. ive always skated and snowskated regular, i can move and maneuver in that stance, ive never bothered trying goofy, it feels awkward of course but i feel like i have a bit more control over fliptricks... ill have to wait til some snow comes around so i can actually move at a good speed.

just thought it was odd, wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this kinda deal. like ive been so used to regular, and being able to just throw shit so easily on the first few tries? its like being adopted into a mining family to find out youre really good at croquet.

miners dont play croquet.

Goofy/Fakie Kickflip ? Nollie Kick Flip?

By my hood there's Four shit: Nollie, Fakie, Switch and Regular

I find Switch a little harder on a snowskate though don't ask me why!
