Tricks...

Postby Xdude on Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:15 pm

Hey guys!

I recieved my board not long ago, and it is really cool to do rails with it, it's just so easy. But I find it really hard to do ollies and try to do kickflips an other flat tricks. I've watched all the videos on ambition, and I can see that the riders seem to have no problem at all getting high ollies and doing flip tricks (they are pro though...). I have a phil smage pro carbon, but i find it a bit heavy to do tricks... Anyone have tips? Please reply anyway... Thanks :D

Well the first trick I ever learned on a snowskate was a shuvit, they are probably the best trick to start out with because all you do is pop and swipe your back foot. It really helps to watch skate trick tip videos, because it is really the same concept on a snowskate, I also recommend to practice most trick stationary on carpet or something else then try them moving on snow. It is really about learning the concepts of the trick first, apply them to the board and then just practice and practice.

Hey again!

I am skating in the summer so i know the consepts and all that... and i can do shuvit and pop shuvit on a snowskate too. But when the pros are riding it seems like they have boards wich doesn't weight that much, is it so or do they use the boards sold on this site? just wondering...

Well some of their boards are slightly customized, but I imagine the actual construction is the same, its really about practicing and getting used to the board, once you get the whole feel down you should be able to pop it and do tricks much more easily

The team riders use exactly the the same boards as we sell online. You will simply need to practice enough to adapt from skateboarding to snowskating and ollie high and catch your flip tricks. It is much harder to ''pop'' in snowskating, although once you get the hang of it I beleive the tricks get easier on a snowskater than a skateboard. It's really a matter of practice and adaptation.

Grip can also be a big problem. If you're snowskating with skateboard shoes in slippery conditions, you simply won't have enough grip to bring your board up. That is often a big problem. Either wear some grippy boots (or snowskate shoes) or use some X-treme grip with skate shoes (or boots if you prefer).

Oh and Nastasia, the boards are a bit lighter this year, although of course the Gerlach model being bigger makes it heavier.

Thanks guys!

These answears were really helpfull to me, thanks for the replies :) The season here is now almost over though... The snow remaining is to wet to try ollies and flip tricks, but I've built a couple of rails and stuff ;P Snowskate is just so cool to do rails with, it's so easy. Next year I'll practice a lot so I can nail some high ollies and flip tricks :D
